Keep on fighting Obama

Some have been viewing the upcoming presidential race as a two person show, mostly between Sen. Hilary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani, and the supposed national polls would have most of America believing that as well.

There are other candidates out there fighting hard to get votes, most notable Barack Obama, who recent statement that he used drugs in high school has people thinking that he was perhaps too honest.

Does anyone honestly believe that former President Clinton never inhaled any of the marijuana that he smoked, isn’t the point of marijuana to inhale. I find it quite refreshing that a candidate can be honest about such a touchy subject as drugs. Everyone at one time in their life has experimented with something that was morally repugnant, like drugs, alcohol, and premarriage sex. Believing that the youth of today isn’t going to try the same thing is borderline ridiculous.

The point of this rant, is that not only should we be honest with our kids but we should look for those who will represent our beliefs and country to be honest as well.

Long Summer

Wow Summer is almost over, this sucks, but its been a pretty good summer. Save for this last week were it seems that we have hit Monsoon season. There are some new pictures up in the Gallery here.

Some of the kids go back to school next week and my new semester starts on Monday, only 2 more to go though, Hooray or something or other. Decided to have a poker party in the next week or so just a couple of friends over, who knows it may turn into a every 3 month dealie or something like that. Good Luck to all that attend although your gonna lose all your cash to me and not Dannie “The Slore” Combs.

Memorial

Today would have been my mom’s 75th birthday, and Friday is Tanya’s mom birthday. We both lost our moms back in 2004, what a way to end the year. I know they have moved onto a better place wherever that may be but doesn’t mean that we don’t miss them for all their motherly quirks.

I light a candle to remember them in hopes that they can see its light from heaven.

Schools out for summer

Ahh another semester down and only 2 more to go. For a while I was worried about one of my classes but I actually ended up getting a B out of the course. My GPA for this semester was a nice 3.443. Not bad and I could have done alot better if i had applied myself but I’m not going to complain.

Anyway big plans for the summer taking the family to the Dells for the wife’s birthday, this will be the first time for any of us going to the Dells. Its getting warmer out and I’m getting restless at work, time for vacation :) .

Another weekend

Another weekend gone by and another wedding has passed. Congratulations to Chauncey and Yesina on their marriage on May 5, 2007. May they have many happy years together and have fun in Aruba. Chicago/NW Indiana was crowded as usual, I see now why I moved away from the big city just getting to the corner store can be a chore.

Pictures from the wedding are up here

Congratulations…

Congratulations to my best friend and brother Nate and his new wife Kathy, their ceremony was held last Saturday, April 21st in Chicago, Illinois. Nice ceremony and nice long weekend for me running around and helping out. Nothing like wearing tuxedo shoes for 12 hours to really make you hate dress shoes.
I’ll be putting up pictures just as soon as my lazy ass gets them off my camera. I could have sworn I took more than 10 pictures but I guess not :( .

What a world…

So this has been a very media heavy week in the world. A firestorm was started by the media over the comments made by Don Imus about the Rutgers basketball team, when he called them “nappy headed hos”. The backlash from this comment was astronomical, in just 2 days Imus had lost both MSNBC and CBS broadcasting rights.

Leading the charge against Imus was Reverend Jesse Jackson and Reverend Al Sharpton, who are no strangers to racial discrimination, but was this really a racist comment or a joke gone horribly bad. I honestly dont believe Mr. Imus meant any harm in his comments, it was like the Michael Richards tirade where he actually verbally attacked audience members. Mr. Imus basically told a joke and a choice few decided to take it to heart.

I believe this is a huge over reaction, and I’m sorry but Rev. Jackson and Rev. Sharpton are not my spokespersons, they dont speak for me or any of my family. Although their intentions have been good for the most part alot of the times they add more fuel to the fire that is racism, instead of solving the problem they put gasoline on it to build it up even more. I wonder what these two self appointed champions of racism and discrimination would do if racism and discrimination disappeared from our world.

Should Imus have been suspended, possibly, I’ve heard a lot of bad jokes from comedians of various ethnicities and what he said wasnt even close in being bad. I fear for our world where it seems that freedoms are being taken away by those that have nothing better to do than add fuel to fires.

Well we can always look at it from this way, at least Imus knocked Anna Nicole’s baby out the limelight if just for a little bit…;)
